This was pushing the limits of what these people could do and prices were often given based upon how many letters the job took. In today’s market, the computers mean that the easy jobs are much easier and the complicated jobs are now a possibility. With a laser engraving machine, a jeweler can take something as complicated as a sports logo or a lighthouse and apply it to a piece of jewelry for people to purchase.
These machines have certainly made lives easier in the jewelry industry, but they’ve also changed the way people market their businesses. With the act of engraving taking much less time and being much less difficult, it figures that jewelers would want to offer this type of service to more and more of their customers. That is the case, as the use of advanced engraving machines has stretched across all levels of the jewelry business, from wholesale to retail and back again.
